We recommend you wash cold and tumble dry low for best results and the least shrinkage. Conventional cotton apparel is generally treated with chemicals during finishing to reduce the shrinking effects of heat. Organic cotton is not chemically treated, so will shrink slightly more than processed cotton. We allow for this in our designs, so our garments may look larger than non-organic garments before you wash them. Shrinkage is worse for the lengths of the garments and is less noticeable in width.
Do not use bleach or harsh detergents on natural, organic cotton - it will cause fading and weakening of the fibres.
Will the dyes fade?
Eco-friendly dyes are just as long lasting as the harmful dyes used on conventional products. However, they will fade if powerful detergents or bleaching agents are used.
Because there are no chemical color fixatives used in our clothing, please do not mix dark colors with light ones for the first few washes. For the first wash, if you add ¼ cup of vinegar to the final rinse, this will help to set the color and resist fading or bleeding.
Tip! When washing prints, you can turn them inside out during the first few washes to help lock in the colour.
Is Organic cotton durable?
Organic cotton is much stronger because it is not exposed to the weakening, harsh chemicals that commercially grown cotton is, therefore organic cotton will last many years, and can be handed down to many babies to come!
Like fluffy clouds in a bright blue summer sky, Parade's clothing is luxuriously soft and comforting. With bold colours, eco inspired designs and our cast of curious characters, we celebrate beginnings, new adventures and the colourful world around us.
Since we designed our first pieces in 2004, we were one of the first baby clothing companies in North America to use only certified organic cotton and sustainable materials. We believe in responsible production, and oversee every detail of every collection. We only use the finest organic cotton from India, where cotton farming has a long history, and the quality is soft and luxurious.
Produced organically, cotton is not only soft and pure on your baby's skin, but also stronger and more durable than processed cotton, all without the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides. The GOTS, or 'Global Organic Textile Standard' label you'll find in our clothing guarantees that each piece was grown, dyed and sewn organically and under fair trade standards.
From our beginnings in a little studio downtown, we created this small, family owned brand that we now sell to the best boutiques across North America. We are proud to have two flagship shops of our own in Gastown and Granville Island - in our natural and beautiful city of Vancouver, BC.
